Thanks to all our bidders who braved the rain and the mud on Saturday. We had 117 registered bidders despite the weather. Ellen Church’s historic trunk was purchased for the historical society in her hometown in Iowa. In fact I’ll be delivering it to them as I travel to Wisconsin for a furniture auction next week. The hits of the auction were the old Colson calendars. Our regular cashier had to be away because her father passed away, but our 12-year old daughter, Susannah, stepped up and learned how to do the job. Way to go Susannah! She got a chance to practice again on Sunday at our 850 lot coin auction (which we finished in a record 6-1/2 hours!). We had almost 200 registered bidders on the floor and online. Thanks to auctioneers, Greg Parrott and Tucker Wood, for helping us with both auctions. The coin and precious metal market is still strong as evidenced today as gold went over $1,200 an ounce, an historical high. Even though it’s a lot of strain on the family to produce a coin catalog, it’s a lot of fun to see the end result.
